Common questions while migrating to GNU/Linux system is whether one will be able to handle zip files or not.
Does GNU/Linux support zip files?
In common mans terminology a file which contains lots of other files and has an effective lesser size is a zip file. Technically this is a compressed archive.
GNU/Linux supports handling these file and does provide a GUI interface for the same.
How do I do it?
In every GNU/Linux distribution you will find one or the other archiving tool, which is generally available under the accessories section. The interface is self explanatory and one can easily create the so called zip file or even un compress them.
In fact one does not even have to open the application, the basic zipping and unzipping can be easily done via the file manager itself.
